Highlights: Travis Head and Steve Smith’s Centuries Put Australia on Top to Reach 405/7

India vs Australia Day 2 of the 3rd Test match between India and Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane saw great batting from Travis Head and Steve Smith. The pair made sure that Australia got into a good position as the scorecard read 405/7 at stumps.   • Travis Head and Steve Smith shine.
  • Travis Head scored a brilliant 152 off 160 balls, after his 140 in the 2nd Test, and with Steve Smith (101 off 190 balls), he added to a fourth-wicket partnership that reached 241 runs.
  • The knock by Smith was his 33rd Test century and a return to form.

Performance of Jasprit Bumrah

  • He was the best of the bowling line up for India as he could resist pressure, with figures of 5/72.
  • His sharp bowling dismissed key Australian batters, including both centurions, Head and Smith.

Challenges for Indian Bowlers

  • Mohammed Siraj (1/97) was troubled by leg discomfort and could not shine.
  • Ravindra Jadeja (0/76) did not have a single impact, while debutant Akash Deep (0/78) bowled fine but was unlucky all along.

Day 3: What to Expect

India’s bowling would look to finish the Australian innings as early as possible on Day 3 and then it would be India’s turn to bat. It will be an enormous task to get close to the Australian’s huge total. Top-order partnerships would be crucial to keep the game in the contest.
