Rekha Gupta, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and first-time MLA from Shalimar Bagh, sworn in as the chief minister of Delhi on Thursday. She became the fourth woman to hold this position. The grand ceremony took place at Ramlila Ground, with Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena administering the oath. Top BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi were present at the oath-taking ceremony.

Rekha Gupta sworn in with Six Ministers
Along with Rekha Gupta, six BJP leaders took oath as ministers in her cabinet. The new ministers are:
- Parvesh Sahib Singh (New Delhi MLA)
- Ashish Sood (Janakpuri MLA)
- Kapil Mishra (Karawal Nagar MLA)
- Manjinder Singh Sirsa (Rajouri Garden MLA)
- Ravinder Indraj Singh (Bawana MLA)

Rekha Gupta sworn in as CM: A Historic Moment for Delhi
Rekha Gupta’s appointment marks a new chapter in Delhi politics. Gupta becomes the fourth woman to hold Delhi’s top post, following Sushma Swaraj (BJP), Sheila Dikshit (INC), and Atishi (AAP). Presently, she is the second serving woman Chief Minister in India. Mamata Banerjee is the only other female Chief Minister in India.
BJP’s Victory in Delhi Elections
In the recent assembly elections, BJP secured 48 out of 70 seats, while AAP won 22. The victory ended AAP’s long rule in Delhi. Gupta, who is known for her grassroots connect, was instrumental in BJP’s victory.

PM Modi Congratulates Rekha Gupta
Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Rekha Gupta’s journey from student politics to Chief Minister. He posted on X, “She has risen from the grassroots. I am confident she will work for Delhi’s development with full energy. My best wishes for her tenure.”
AAP Leaders Absent from Ceremony
AAP leader Swati Maliwal was present at the event, but senior AAP leaders, including Arvind Kejriwal and Atishi, were absent. However, they congratulated Rekha Gupta through social media.

Parvesh Sahib Singh, New Delhi MLA
Parvesh Sahib Singh, son of former Delhi Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma, claimed victory over Arvind Kejriwal. Singh has served as an MP two times and MLA once. His priorities are set on the development of Yamuna riverfront, housing, and employment opportunities. Singh has established himself firmly in Delhi politics over the last decade and possesses strong popularity in his constituency. He has pledged to improve infrastructure, education, and healthcare to the citizens of New Delhi. His vision for New Delhi is to elevate it to a model constituency with world-class facilities and proper civic services.
Ashish Sood, MLA from Janakpuri
Ashish Sood’s rise from a young party worker to a respected BJP leader shows how dedicated he is to serving the public and helping the party grow. He is a strong voice for both the BJP and the people of Janakpuri, thanks to the support of the party’s top leaders and the RSS. His plans for transportation, waste management, and water supply are realistic and show that he has a clear idea of what he wants to do in the future. Ashish Sood is known as the dedicated leader on his political journey. He has experience, is good at organizing things, and wants to make Delhi a better place for people.
Kapil Mishra, Karawal Nagar MLA
Kapil Mishra, son of former East Delhi Mayor Annapurna Mishra, previously served as a minister in the AAP government. He joined the BJP after saying that Arvind Kejriwal was corrupt. Known for his activism and powerful speeches, he has taken strong stands on issues like the Commonwealth Games scandal, farmer suicides, and Yamuna River encroachment.
“It’s Common VS Wealth” is the name of his book. He spoke on many issues, including the environment and making the government more accessible. While in politics, he has had to make hard decisions and fight hard against corruption. In Karawal Nagar, he wants to improve public services, promote economic growth, and make the area safer to stop the rise in crime.
Manjinder Singh Sirsa is the Rajouri Garden MLA
As a former head of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, Sirsa is a Sikh leader who has a lot of power in both politics and religion and worked hard to protect the rights of Sikh citizens . Sirsa’s development agenda for Rajouri Garden focuses on strengthening education, healthcare, and law enforcement while preserving the area’s religious and cultural heritage
Bawana MLA Ravinder Indraj Singh
Ravinder Singh beat Jai Bhagwan of the AAP by more than 31,000 votes. His strong attachment with the community helped him win by a large margin. Singh has been involved in community service and welfare programs because he comes from a family that is politically active. His main goals are to improve basic infrastructure in Bawana, help rural areas grow, and give young people the skills they need to succeed. He has promised to fix the problems with water and electricity and make Bawana a region that can support itself and grow economically.
Pankaj Kumar Singh,Vikaspuri MLA
Pankaj Singh won against AAP’s Mahinder Yadav. His victory strengthened BJP’s hold in South West Delhi. Singh has been doing social work for a long time and is well-known for his work to improve communities. He has promised to work on improving Vikaspuri’s roads, sanitation, and public health care. He wants to help young people and businesses also in the area .

The BJP is in charge of a new government, and big changes to policies and infrastructure are likely to happen. The main goals are to make Delhi better, create jobs, and keep it clean.
